Mrs. Amy Athavale, BSN, RN
As a mother of two young kids, Amy knows what it is like to juggle many demands.  While active in her church, and church choir, she also finds time to rally for both women’s causes and women’s rights.  Amy is also quite knowledgeable in both the applied and practical applications of children’s education, since she taught Grade One for a number of years prior to becoming a nurse.

Amy’s comprehensive educational background consists of the following:

  • Bachelor of Science, BSN Nursing………….  University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill NC
  • Masters in Elementary Education, MS Edu,…University of North Carolina, Greensboro NC
  • Bachelor of Arts, BA Anthropology…………   Duke University, Durham, NC

With respect to nursing, her specialties include, medical surgical nursing, pediatrics, rehabilitation, mental health, and labor / delivery / newborn nursing.

A few of her interest areas include breastfeeding issues where she is happy to discuss the values of breastfeeding with any mother who might have questions.  While she is not a lactation consultant, she is experienced having breast fed both of her children for a total of five years.

With all of these interests, she has on occasion found time to rally support for animal rights and the environment, which include her support in helping maintain the Appalachian Trail.
